about
Wayne Anderson is the passionate founder and owner of Cabana Café, one of Miramar Beach’s most beloved restaurant and entertainment destinations. Wayne’s story is deeply rooted in the Emerald Coast — and in the community that shaped him.
A Gulf Coast Childhood
Wayne moved to the Destin area as a young boy in 1976, when his father was stationed here with the U.S. Air Force. Some of his earliest memories include small-boat fishing under the Destin Bridge and out through the East Pass — experiences that helped form his lifelong connection to the Gulf Coast. From the beginning, Wayne felt the strength of this area’s tightknit community — a sense of belonging that still drives him today.
Service and Early Career
At 18, Wayne followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the U.S. Air Force, where he hoped to see the world. Funny enough, his service brought him back home to Eglin Air Force Base, where he completed his military career surrounded by the place he loved most.
After his military service, Wayne began building his career in hospitality. He spent over a decade at Harry T’s restaurant, rising through the ranks to become Assistant General Manager, and later served as General Manager at Lucky Snapper for seven years. During this time, Wayne also opened Wayne’s Doghouse at Crab Island in 1991 — one of the first spots in the area known for good food and live music. Today, the original sign from Wayne’s Doghouse hangs proudly inside Cabana Café as a reminder of his roots in the local dining scene.
Founding Cabana Café
When the opportunity arose to open his own restaurant, Wayne embraced it without hesitation. On January 1, 2008, Cabana Café opened its doors in the bottom floor of the Ariel Dunes building inside Seascape Resort. Built on Wayne’s decades-long experience and community spirit, Cabana Café soon became a favorite for locals and visitors alike.
Under Wayne’s leadership, Cabana Café is known for its fresh-made ingredients, hearty and creative menu offerings, and live music seven days a week — making it as much a social hub as a dining destination.
